North Penn Places Third at Viking Duals
Lozzi, Incollingo Post 5-0 Records
GRATERFORD - The North Penn Knights went 3-2 at the Viking Duals to place third as a team at Perkiomen Valley High School. North Penn defeated Perkiomen Valley, Mahanoy Area, and Allentown Dieruff and dropped matches to Allentown Central Catholic and Central Bucks East. Two Knights went undefeated on Saturday, as Tony Lozzi (HWT) and Mike Incollingo (125-130) finished the day an unblemished 5-0.

Central Bucks East won the team title, with Allentown Central Catholic placing second ahead of North Penn. Perk Valley was fifth and Upper Merion finished in sixth.

North Penn turned around its opening match against Perk Valley at the 125-pound weight class. Trailing 22-9 entering that match, the Knights rattled off five wins in a row to take the lead over the Vikings. Mike Incollingo (130) and Joe Grunklee (135) had back-to-back pins to key the North Penn comeback.

In the second match of the day, North Penn fell to CB East, 44-19. The Patriots won 10 of 14 matches, including the final five bouts. Tony Lozzi, Tyler Romano, Incollingo and Grunklee won their bouts against CB East.

The Knights thumped Mahanoy Area, 62-18 in the final match within their pool. Eight Knights won their matches by either fall or forfeit, and the Bears only led the match at 6-0, following the first bout at 215 pounds. Drew Daubert had North Penn's quickest fall, as he decked Mahanoy's Brent Andrucavage in 57 seconds.

In the first placement match, Allentown Central Catholic proved too much for North Penn, as the Vikings won, 41-25. The turning point in the match came at 135 pounds, with the Knights leading, 18-12. Central Catholic's David Wenck produced a momentum-changing win over North Penn's Caleb Hill. Wenck trailed 7-2 with about 30 seconds remaining in the match. After Hill gave up an escape, Wenck headlocked Hill and picked up five points to win 8-7. Christopher Tagliavia followed that up with a 6-4 sudden victory decision over Randy Haun that tied the match up at 18-18. North Penn would not lead again.

The Knights took home third place with a win over Allentown Dieruff in the final match of the day, as they defeated the Huskies, 39-29. The Knights jumped out to a 30-11 lead halfway through the match, thanks to pins byRomano, Daubert, Incollingo, and Hill. The Knights hung on for the win, capping the match with a 2-1 decision at heavyweight by Lozzi.

North Penn (7-3) has the week off from competition before heading to the Hurricane Holiday Classic at Freedom High School in Bethlehem on December 28 and 29.
