Ghosts Beat Knights, 39-23
TOWAMENCIN --- The Abington Ghosts defeated the North Penn Knights, 39-23, in a Suburban One National meet Wednesday night. David Osei’s 5-3 tiebreak victory over North Penn’s Tony Lozzi at heavyweight clinched the match for the Ghosts. Three of Abington’s wins, including Osei’s, were by two points or less. Matt Lancaster outlasted Joe Grunklee, 4-3, at 135 pounds, while Max Barsky stayed undefeated – barely – by holding off Dominic Colangelo, 8-7. Matt Prestifilippo started off the duel with a major decision at 119 pounds, 14-2 over Mark Mandel. Mike Incollingo then received a forfeit victory at 125. But then the Ghosts won 7 of the next eight matches to build an 18-point lead with four bouts remaining. The Knights’ two Tylers – Smith and Romano – both won their matches. Smith (215 lbs) had an exciting pin of Steve Klatcher in 2:37, while Romano (112) scored the only point of his 1-0 win on a penalty to John Lee in the second period. North Penn (8-5, 1-1 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy for its next match, Saturday at noon. ABINGTON 39, NORTH PENN 23 |
