Knights 1-2 on Opening Night of Five Star Duals
BERWYN The North Penn Knights went 1-2 on the opening night of the two-day Five Star Duels at Conestoga High School Friday night. The Knights defeated Cardinal OHara, 35-34, and fell to Neshaminy, 33-26, and Central York , 42-39. Matt Prestifilippo (112), Tommy Prykowski (119), Will Bachert (160) and Tony Lozzi (285) all went 3-0 individually. In the first match of the evening, North Penn held a 23-15 lead over Neshaminy with four matches to go, but the Redskins had pins in three of the final four matches to run away with a 33-26 victory. Each team won seven matches, but Neshaminys bonus points were the difference. Mike Incollingo had the only pin of the match for the Knights, as he pinned Tyler Roucroft in 3:16. Matt Prestifilippo and Tommy Prykowski had back-to-back major decisions at 112 and 119 for the only other bonus points for the Knights. The match counted as a league meet in the Suburban One National standings. North Penn squeaked by Cardinal OHara, 35-34, in a thrilling finish in the second match of the night. Trailing by five points entering the final bout of the match, 215-pounder Tyler Smith gave North Penn the win with a pin of Matt Rooney in 4:49. Other pinners for the Knights were Will Bachert (160) and Tony Lozzi (285). Matt Prestifilippo was a winner by technical fall over Joe Jones at 112, and Tommy Prykowski handed the Lions Luke Westby his first loss of the season, as he rode Westby out in the ultimate tiebreaker. In the final match of the night, Central York s middleweights proved too tough for the Knights, as the Panthers handed North Penn a 42-39 loss. With the Knights leading, 22-6, after five matches, Central York won 6 of 7 bouts between 135 and 189, taking an insurmountable 15-point lead into the final two matches. North Penn received pins from Tyler Romano (112), Tom Prykowski (125), Mike Incollingo (130), and Tony Lozzi (285). The bouts were split 7-7, but every one of the Panthers wins came by fall.
