North Penn Crowns Two Champs at Sectionals, Sends Four to Districts
RED HILL – The North Penn Knights placed two wrestlers atop the medal stand at Upper Perkiomen High School Saturday, as Matt Prestifilippo (112 pounds) and Mike Incollingo (125) each won sectional title. The Knights also sent Dominic Colangelo (145) and Tony Lozzi (285) through to the District One North tournament. Both Colangelo and Lozzi took home silver medals.
North Penn finished 7th out of 9 teams, with 82 points. Quakertown won the team title, edging out Upper Perkiomen by 10 points. Pennridge's Collin McConnell, who defeated Colangelo by technical fall in the finals, was named the Outstanding Wrestler.
Prestifilippo defeated defending state qualifier Chris McGinley of Central Bucks West in the finals, 8-6, in the second tiebreaker. The junior 112-pounder used an escape and a takedown in extra time to win the gold medal.
Incollingo jumped out to an early lead on Quakertown freshman Briar Malischewski and held on late to win, 5-1. He pinned his previous two opponents in a combined 1:15.
Lozzi fell in the finals to Upper Perk's Jared Bennett, 6-4, after pinning Quakertown's Bubba Smith in the semifinals.
The District One North tournament will be held at Central Bucks South next Saturday.
