Knight's Prestifilippo Earns a Medal at States

HERSHEY – North Penn's Matt Prestifilippo clinched a coveted spot on the medal stand at the state championships by virtue of a 2-0 win over Middletown's Shane Miller in the quarterfinals. With the win, Prestifilippo advanced to Saturday morning's semifinal round, where he will face Emmaus's Taylor Brown.

By advancing to the semifinals, Prestifilippo clinched at least a sixth-place medal. He becomes the first North Penn wrestler since 2003 to bring home a state medal. In 2003, North Penn's Zac Fryling won his second state title, while Brandon Hill earned a 7th place medal.

The Knights' other competitor, Mike Incollingo, had his career come to an end at the hands of Erie Cathedral Prep's Rocco Wellek. Tied, 2-2, entering the third period, Wellek turned Incollingo with a half nelson and stacked him up for a pin in 3:46.

Incollingo ends his season with a 38-8 record, and a career record of 94-35.

The semifinals begin Saturday morning at Giant Center at 8 am. That round will be immediately followed by third and fourth round consolations. The placement matches for 3rd, 5th, and 7th places will begin a 6 pm, and the championship finals will take place at 8 pm.
