Knights Can't Catch Indians, 36-32

TOWAMENCIN – The Souderton Indians defeated the North Penn Knights, 36-32, in SOL Continental wrestling action Wednesday night. Souderton (2-1, 4-3) gave up three forfeits but won 8 of the 11 matches wrestled to defeat the Knights (1-2, 2-3). Randy Haun (160) started the night by getting a quick pin despite wrestling up a weight class. Then Souderton's strength at the heavier weights showed as they won four straight bouts to pull away in the team score 18-6. After Joey O'Brien collected a forfeit at 103 the Indians won the next three matches to take a 30-12 lead. The Knights tried to mount a comeback with Tyler Romano (130) and Drew Daubert (140) getting convincing major decisions around a forfeit to Greg Lacoff (135). This cut the Souderton lead to four, with the team score 30 to 26 and only two bouts remaining. But Chris Force pinned Nick Gallagher (145) to seal the Indian's victory. The night ended with Souderton forfeiting the final match to Mike Robinson at 152.
