Knights Start Strong and Hold On at CB West, 40-30

DOYLESTOWN – The North Penn Knights defeated the Central Bucks West Bucks, 40-30, in SOL Continental wrestling action Wednesday night. North Penn (2-2, 3-3) took a 27-0 lead in the first five matches when Randy Haun (152), Dominic Colangelo (160) and Will Bachert (189) all grabbed first period pins, George Shipp (215) won a decision and Branden Bavonese received a forfeit. The Bucks (0-4, 2-8) started their comeback winning six of the next eight bouts with only Joey O'Brien (103) and Tyler Romano (130) winning for the Knights. O'Brien collected a fall against a tough opponent, but the premier match of the night was at 130. West's Ferrara grabbed an early lead but Romano controlled Ferrara on top and tied the match with late near fall points. In what amounted to the fourth overtime period, Romano did not let the Bucks senior escape in the rideout, earning a 6-5 decision. With the team score 36-30 in favor of the Knights and only one bout remaining the Bucks needed a pin to tie the match but Mike Robinson (145) controlled the entire contest winning by major decision 11-0 and sealing the Knight victory.
